Elswick teenager who raped a schoolgirl at knife

A rapist who dragged a schoolgirl off the street and attacked her at knife-point has today been jailed for 12 years.Abdul Miah, admitted targeting the 15-year-old, as she walked through Newcastle's West End just days before Christmas.And after the attack the vile predator told his victim that 'no-one would like' her, because she had been raped.Ken Tucker Praises Vera Farmiga's Knife-Sharp Performance There was an increased police presence at Newcastle Crown Court when child-like  Miah was brought in for sentencing today.The court heard how the victim, whose identity is protected by law, was on her way to an aunt's house on December 18, when Miah grabbed her, dragged her to a secluded spot with a knife at her throat then ordered her to strip.The rapist kept her on wasteland, in Elswick, for around 90 minutes and raped her three times.Part of the attack was overheard by the girl's mum, who rang her mobile when she failed to come home at 10pm, as expected.

Miah then stole her money and mobile phone and disappeared into the night, leaving his knife at the scene.A huge police manhunt was launched, and Miah was traced and arrested five days later.He admitted carrying out the attack, in March."But I really thought he was going to kill me. I was actually surprised when he let me go."In a victim impact statement read to the court, the girl's mum said : "She's now scared to go out alone. He's made her lose her confidence and breaks down frequently."Sentencing Miah to an 18-year extended sentence, made up of 12 years in custody and six years on licence, Judge James Goss said: "It was a prolonged, terrifying and humiliating ordeal for the young victim being attacked, raped and robbed by a stranger. She was physically injured and traumatised.Today, Katherine Dunn prosecuting told Judge Goss, that after the attack Miah said to his victim: "You will always be the girl that got raped and no one will like you."The court was also told how Miah threatened to kill his young victim and she was physically sick during the attack.Ms Dunn said: "She was absolutely terrified at what was going to happen to her. He threatened to cut her. She described how she wanted to 'end it all' and fall asleep.
