BOGUS council workers pulled a knife

BOGUS council workers pulled a knife on a Tilbury man before stealing a three figure sum of cash and two engagement and wedding rings.The men conned their way into the home of the victim, aged in his fifties, in Bryanston Road telling him they were from Thurrock Council and were doing a recycling survey, even producing ID and lanyards.After producing a knife, they demanded money and stole two white gold women's wedding bands, two white gold men's wedding bands, and two white gold engagement rings set with a diamond.The victim was also forced to hand over two iPod Touches and some jewellery.The men ran off along Sandhurst Road, heading in the direction of Moore Avenue.One suspect is white, aged 20 to 30, 5ft 10ins tall, and of large build. He had a shaved head, was clean shaven, and was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, dark trousers, smart black shoes and a multi-coloured lanyard with ID in a clear plastic sleeve which said Thurrock Council. He was carrying a black record-style bag.

 He was wearing the same type of lanyard with a long-sleeved white shirt and black shoes.Investigating officer, Dc Steven Bailey said: "I really need to speak to anyone in this area who might have seen these men as they made their getaway, or lurking around beforehand". Neighbors near Kamiakin High School got an alarming wake-up call when police arrested a man with a large knife.But the story unfolded in the strangest way, when Kennewick Police discovered their victim was really their suspect.When Christian Williams saw his friend Monday morning, he says he knew Caleb Wartman was on back on meth."That's him all day. Like 24 hours a day for a week--just everywhere. I just think it's the first time he's been caught," Christian says.Christian lives on North Buchanan Street in Kennewick. It's right near the spot where officers arrested 20 year old Wartman. But the trouble started over at Kamiakin High School.Wartman asked a student if he could use his phone. He called 911 to say he'd been stabbed.Police say the entire situation happened in the area right across the street from Kamiakin High School.
