The company has held stake in the likes

Things haven't been all that great for Africa Dawn, according to a Financial Mail report from earlier this year. The report says that a move into tech investment is the company's "hopeful third-time-lucky".A move towards tech makes sense for the company as Africa's tech entrepreneurial landscape has attracted a fair amount of attention in the last few years, making it a hot space to play in right now.According to the deal announcement, shareholders of the company have been advised that "Afdawn has entered into negotiations to acquire 100% of the issued shares in Knife Capital Proprietary Limited".Africa Dawn Capital Limited, at its core, provides various financial products and services to individuals and businesses in South Africa. Founded in Cape Town, South Africa, the company offers bridging finance, personal short-term unsecured finance, micro finance, debtor discounting, structured property finance and other financial services, including commercial debt collection, debt advisory, debt management, run offs and asset disposals, outsourcing, debt acquisition, and loan assistance. The move isn't exactly surprising, given that AfDawn named Knife Cap's founder Keet van Zyl a director this year.

Buying the firm makes sense if AfDawn wants to seriously invest in tech business. Knife, previously PoweredbyVC, has been playing in the tech investment space for a while, managing tech billionaire Mark Shuttleworth's South Africa VC investments - through HBD.The company has held stake in the likes of Fundamo, which exited to Visa for a staggering US$110-million, as well as some hush hush deals like Clicks2Customers and CSense to GE. Current investments include EDH, maker of FlightScope, OrderTalk - provider of online ordering solutions - and a wildcard non-tech investment with a stake in African restaurant chain, Moyo.Ventureburn contacted Knife Capital for comment but all the company has to say on the matter is "watch this space".A Leavenworth woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her daughter with a knife during an altercation Saturday at their residence, a police spokesman said. The daughter also was arrested for allegedly punching her mother in the nose, breaking it, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department. The incident was reported at 2:43 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 700 block of Cheyenne Street.

You've got a grinder in your garage

He pushed my picture back to me and said, 'Nope, I am not gonna do it,'" Robinson said. "He said, 'You've got a grinder in your garage and you've forgotten more than I have ever known about knives. You go to your shop and you start playing with it.'"Cathy Batton, a spokeswoman for Baltimore County Police, said Tuesday that a volunteer at the school informed the principal Thursday afternoon that she was approached by a student who said a classmate had a knife.According to Batton, He wanted to cut her face the principal, Jane Martin, told responding officers "that the suspect had showed the knife and threatened two other students because they were being too loud in class."In a letter sent home to parents Monday, Martin said the school received information that "a student was in possession of a weapon.""Working with Baltimore County Police, we located the student and took custody of the knife in the student's possession," Martin wrote. "Possession of such a knife is a serious offense and the school has taken appropriate disciplinary action.

"Batton said that because school was already out of session when the incident was reported, officers had to go to the students' homes to investigate. The student will not be charged because "Maryland law requires someone to be at least seven years old before they can be criminally responsible for their actions," Batton said.Baltimore County Public Schools could not provide additional information or comment on the situation Monday. In the letter to parents, Martin stressed the community's role in keeping the school and its children safe."As with this case, it is important for all of us-students and parents alike-to inform school staff or police any time you or your child sees, hears, or reads anything that is suspicious or that may pose a threat to the school or its students," Martin wrote. It has also emerged that gardai have spoken to a woman described as a "person of interest" in the murder probe.Patrick Redmond was found stabbed in an apartment at Mount Kennett Place on Dock Road, Limerick city, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He wanted to cut her face

The easiest technique is to hold the rod vertically and swipe the knife along it, using light pressure.Keep knives dryDo not stick damp or wet knives in a knife block. While knife blocks look good, and seem like an efficient way to store knives, they can be harmful because they retain moisture and provide an environment for bacteria to grow. If you're going to use a wooden block to store knives, make sure knives are clean and dry before storing them.Store knives separatelyThis is especially true for high-end knives. Good knives must be babied. Over time, you're likely to damage or dull the knives' edges by storing them with other knives.Use a cutting boardNever cut on glass, marble, granite or a ceramic surface, because they're too hard for a fragile, delicate knife edge. You can buy cutting boards in assorted sized.Finished ones made of mahogany, for example, can be pricey. But why buy one when you can make one yourself? Ideally, you ought to have a few boards so that you're not constantly washing a board after cutting food on it. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Centers

Sister Madelene had been a longtime educator, including serving as principal at St. John the Baptist School and Holy Family School in south St. Louis. At about age 70,He wanted to cut her face  Sister Madelene reluctantly took over fundraising efforts for the community, almost bailing out a couple times before she started. But she caught on quick and kept at it for some 22 years.Early on, she connected with St. Louis Cardinals sales rep Joe Strohm who is now vice president of ticket sales for the team. They partnered on a Sisters of the Most Precious Blood night at Busch Stadium fundraiser and other efforts that have been successes for the community of women religious known for serving others as educators, missionaries, artists, musicians, caregivers, pastoral ministers and more. They sponsor three St. Louis-area ministries: Centers for Professional and Pastoral Services, Ecclesiastical Art Department and St.

Elizabeth Adult Day Care Centers. Her love of the Cardinals came through as an educator. She never wanted to initiate the idea of students listening to or watching World Series games during classroom time, but when they asked, "I said, 'Well if you get your work done and you behave, yes I'll let you watch."Pausing, Sister Madelene added, "I was so glad to get asked."A Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, Sister Madelene would get offers of bets from students when her football team played the University of Missouri, and she usually won. Once though, her team lost and even the parish priest was in on it and unwilling to let her off her obligation. When she payed the bet, the students went to the drug store and bought her a box of candy. "Oh, I loved the kids," she added. She used to go weekly to a shop in the Soulard neighborhood to buy cheese and had a deal with the shopkeeper. If Missouri won, she had to bring in a loaf of her baked bread. If Nebraska won, she received a free pound of cheese.

This area was covered by yellow pine

Visitors to Landmark Park Saturday, Oct. 26, caught a glimpse of just what that life was like during the park's annual Wiregrass Heritage Festival. The Wiregrass Farmstead was abuzz with activity as docents put their knowledge to work demonstrating how families survived before the advent of modern farm machinery and household appliances.Nothing was wasted on the farmstead. The scraps left over from making the family's clothing were used to make quilts to keep the family members warm in the winter time.It seems like we could no longer work together Short crosscut logs were split to make shingles for the roof of the family dwelling, the barn and other buildings often found on a Wiregrass farmstead. Even the drippings from food cook over an open hearth were put to use as the base for gravy for biscuits. Hair trimmed from farm animals were spun into thread to make sweaters, socks and scarves."The settlers had to be self-sufficient," said John Johnson as he picked up the tools he would use to demonstrate the skills needed to make roofing shingles. "This area was covered by yellow pine and wiregrass. It had a vast expanse of trees. This part of the state had not been settled except around the rivers.

There were plenty of trees in this area to harvest for houses."Pine was used for the shingles, and only two simple tools were needed to turn a block of wood into shingles. Typically, this was done by the adults, but children could do it. In fact, boys would often do it."The tools you would use are a simple maul carved from good hardwood. It would be 10 inches in diameter. They would cut it to a convenient length and then use a hatchet to carve it out."With a maul ready for use, Johnson says the next piece needed was the froe."A froe is a flat piece of metal, double beveled," Johnson said as he described the tool that would be used to cut into the wood. The handle for the froe would include a metal ring forge-welded to the metal blade. The handle, inserted into the holder, would be a shaved piece of wood. With a round piece of wood positioned in front of him, Johnson took a seat on another piece of wood nearby. With the froe placed on the wood in front of him, Johnson used the maul to pound the froe into the wood.

It seems like we could no longer work together

"I took two or three photos. We take lots of photos in class. … Most of them are for official use and for the parents. They're not meant to be taken off the [classroom] computer."Smith, a Briton who first came to Hong Kong in 1994 and now works for another school in Yuen Long, denies the bag was used to punish the child. He was fired in July and will claim unfair dismissal at a labour tribunal later this month. He said the sacking was for "applying to take a long holiday" and refusing to work on Saturdays after agreeing with the school that he would not have to do so.The school says he was dismissed for not taking part in extracurricular activities, and gives a different account of the plastic bag incident.Headmistress Tina Tse Yee-mei said a teacher received an anonymous e-mail on October 18 with a photo of the boy in the school's uniform attached. The kindergarten immediately told police. In subsequent days, more teachers received the photo, Tse said. They gave detailed statements to police last week.

Tse said she suspected Smith was responsible as the Chinese writing in the e-mail made no sense, but would be consistent with a translation from English using Google Translate."We've always taught our children never to put plastic bags or any bags over their heads. We can't have a teacher condone that and then take a photo of it," she said. She said the photo was clearly taken in a particular classroom and featured decorations that were up last year, when Smith was using the room."We later talked to students, who confirmed that the teacher had put the bag over [the boy's] head. It wasn't part of the game," Tse added. But Tse said Smith and the school "did not part under bad circumstances"."He was only willing to go to class and not willing to participate in other activities," she said. "It seems like we could no longer work together."The Zenith Kindergarten chain will install CCTV cameras in classrooms and activity areas to prevent similar cases, she said.
